For the most upscale interiors, these massive 17 1/2 inch wide planks are of balanced construction consisting of a 4mm top layer of genuine French Oak hardwood, 11mm marine grade plywood core, and 4mm French Oak bottom layer, known as "balancing layer". Total thickness is 3/4".
This balanced construction, implementing the same thickness and wood species on both the top and bottom layer, is what makes this wide plank flooring possible, because the balancing is what enables these extra wide boards to stay flat.
